Bronze for Falls Creek in 2022 Victorian Tourism Awards

Falls Creek Alpine Resort is extremely proud to be recognised in the 2022 Victorian Tourism Award as the Bronze winner in the Major Tourist Attraction category.

Falls Creek Alpine Resort are honoured to be in the company of such a high calibre of finalists, as there are so many wonderful tourism campaigns, events and experiences to explore across Victoria. A huge congratulations to the winner, Royal Botanic Gardens, for their consistently outstanding destination and now their entrance into the Hall of Fame.

Falls Creek Resort provides world-class alpine experiences that range from summer mountain biking, hiking and water activities, through to skiing and snowboarding in the winter. In the past two years Falls Creek has contended with the dire bushfires of black summer resulting in evacuations and event cancellations at the resort, the 2020 winter season shut-down of Falls Creek for all but four days of the winter due to the pandemic, and three lengthy government mandated Covid-19 lockdowns throughout the 2021 winter season, and now a landslide disrupting events and visitation for summer 2022/23.

It is only through the extraordinary effort and commitment from all stakeholders that Falls Creek Resort has been able to continue its excellence in creating adventurous fun and varied experiences for visitors. Recognition for this hard-earned work as finalists in this award is appreciated from everyone in the Falls Creek Resort and reaffirms it truly is a year-round top tourist destination.

The 2022 Victorian Tourism Awards were held on Thursday 1st December at an event gala at CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park. More than 800 guests attended to honour the state’s best tourism operators across 31 categories.

Stuart Smythe, CEO of FCAR, congratulated the winners and said, “Congratulations to Royal Botanic Gardens for their exceptional destination. It is an honour to be nominated among such a high calibre of entrants. Taking home bronze recognises the immense contribution made by our community, stakeholders, and business operators. They have remained steadfast and committed to delivering for our visitors and guests a year-round mountain adventure experience unparalleled in the Australian alps, despite the most challenging of circumstances in recent years.”

Lisa Logan, President of Falls Creek Chamber of Commerce said, Victorian Tourism Awards is again a wonderful opportunity to showcase Falls Creek Alpine Resort as a major tourist attraction and destination. As a bronze winner, we can show we are a proud and strong community, committed to tourism excellence. This year these awards are particularly timely and hopefully will be a boost to moral. After 3 years of challenges, we are now facing yet another with the impact of a significant road closure due to a landslip. Once again, we thank the team at the Falls Creek Alpine Resort who have made this submission.”
