Immediate Road Closure Bogong High Plain Road

Road Closure Extention until 18th November 2022
Dear Falls Creek Stakeholders,
Falls Creek Alpine Resort (FCAR) wish to advise staff, stakeholders and residents that access to Falls Creek will have an ongoing hard closure to all traffic between Falls Creek and Mt Beauty. Current advice from SES and the Dept of Transport (Vicroads) is to plan for this closure to be in place for the next month until the 18th of November 2022.
This is due to increased risk at the site from the forecast ongoing rainfall events and the continuing hazard present at the site.
This closure will be managed at Mt Beauty and Howman's Gap. Access between Falls Creek and Mt Beauty will be permitted for emergency services personnel only during the closure period.
Bogong High Plains Road from Falls Creek to Shannonvale has now been opened for use by Falls Creek residents and stakeholders during this period. It will open to the general public from 9am Monday 24th of October.
FCAR will be undertaking a process of stakeholder consultation on Monday 24th October 2022 to discuss the impacts and options for ongoing works, visitation to the resort and financial support options given the substantial impacts of this closure. Mt.Beauty to Falls Creek Access Closed

Transport Alert: Full Closure of Bogong High Plains Road, Fall Creek
Bogong High Plains Road will be closed to all road users from 8pm on Friday, 21 October, due to heavy rains in the area worsening an active landslip.
The road is currently closed to the public however access for emergency and essential services and local residents has been permitted through traffic management. When the full closure is implemented at 8pm Friday 21 October, there will be no access to and from Falls Creek.
Residents and staff planning to leave Falls Creek will need to do so prior to the road closure tonight.
Residents or staff not already at Falls Creek should avoid travelling to the town or be prepared to stay in the area until the road has been re-opened.
Access for essential services, staff and residents will be reopened at 12pm Saturday 22 October, weather conditions pending.
The current closure was put in place on Wednesday 14 October following heavy rainfall and investigations by Regional Roads Victoria, which identified cracking and shifting debris near Bogong.
The Department of Transport’s team of geotechnical engineers is monitoring conditions. We will continue to advise the community of changes to access and works in the area.
