Falls Creek 2021 Ice Plunge Frozen for Another Year

Following the announcement by the Acting Victorian Premier, unfortunately Falls Creek Resort is required to cancel the 2021 Ice Plunge, planned for June 1st.

The annual ritual was set to take place on the first day of winter and sees locals and visitors, clad in costumes, take a dip in the freezing waters of Rocky Valley Lake. This sacrifice is performed as an offering to the snow gods to ensure fantastic snowfall over the upcoming snow season.

"As the 1st of June falls within the lockdown period we will have to put a freeze on the Ice Plunge for another year" Sarah Watt, Director of Marketing and Communications confirmed. "We are very disappointed as the event was cancelled last year due to the pandemic" she went on to advise "but it is for the health and safety of our community, staff and guests and better that we undertake this lockdown now and hope the situation is under control again for the opening weekend of the 2021 Snow Season (12-14th June)."

The Falls Creek Ice Plunge is also a fundraiser for the incredible work of Fight MND in battling Motor Neuron Disease and searching for a cure. Registrations for the Ice Plunge are donated to support the incredible work Fight MND undertake. If you would still like to donate to Fight MND please head to https://fightmnd.org.au/DONATE/

You can also support this worthy cause by purchasing a Fight MND Beanie which are on sale in the Falls Creek Visitor Information Centre throughout the winter season.

We look forward to welcoming guests back to Falls Creek Resort once the lockdown is lifted and are continuing to plan for a strong and uninterrupted snow season in 2021.
