Cross-border NSW LGAs now Red Zones

All NSW Local Government Areas in the cross-border community are now red zones. They were previously Extreme Risk Zones.

If you live in the cross-border area - and you haven't been in a red or extreme risk zone outside the cross-border area in the previous 14 days - you can cross the border and enter Victoria without a permit for any reason. Conditions apply.

How the NSW-Victoria border bubble works

You can enter Victoria for any reason without a permit if:

• you are a resident of the cross-border area
• you have not been in an extreme risk zone or red zone outside of the cross-border area at any time since it came into effect over the last 14 days
• you haven't been to a current Extreme Risk zone inside the cross-border area (note: there are currently no Extreme Risk Zones inside the cross-border area)
• you have not been to an exposure site
• you don't have COVID-19 or have any symptoms, and you are not a close contact of a confirmed COVID-19 case
• you carry proof of address (such as a driver licence).

 

If you have been to a Red or Extreme Risk Zone outside the cross-border area in the past 14 days:

• you aren't eligible to enter Victoria without a permit

  • if you've been in a Red Zone, you need to obtain a Red Zone permit unless you have an exemption, exception or another valid permit. You can only get a Red Zone permit if you are a Victorian resident.
  • if you've been in an Extreme Risk Zone, you cannot enter Victoria unless you have an exemption, exception or another valid permit.

People travelling from the NSW-Victoria border bubble must comply with all Directions currently in place in Victoria, including restrictions for areas currently in lockdown.
