Flower of the Alpine Sun Officially Launched at Falls Creek

Alpine Resorts Victoria (ARV) Falls Creek marked the start of the winter season with the official launch of Flower of the Alpine Sun during Opening Weekend. The event welcomed community members, visitors and project partners to celebrate the new public artwork by artist Gio Veronesi.

Hosted by Cloud 9 Restaurant, the event brought guests together high above the village, where sweeping views across the Kiewa Valley and the Bogong High Plains created a spectacular backdrop for the occasion.

Inspired by the unique alpine environment, Flower of the Alpine Sun reflects the beauty and character of Falls Creek’s alpine landscape. Through his work, Gio has created a vibrant piece that celebrates the connection between nature, community and place, inviting visitors to experience the mountains through a creative lens.

Guests gathered to hear from Gio and those involved in bringing the project to life, gaining insight into the inspiration and creative process behind the artwork while experiencing the installation firsthand. The launch celebrated not only the completion of the project, but also the growing role of art and culture within Falls Creek’s alpine environment.

The launch of Flower of the Alpine Sun marks an exciting addition to Falls Creek’s cultural landscape. As a permanent public artwork, the installation adds a new dimension to the year-round visitor experience, inviting guests to connect with the alpine environment through art, storytelling and place across all seasons.
