We are extremely proud of Falls Creek’s reputation as an industry leader in the field of sustainable alpine tourism and development. Our environmental programs reduce our impact on the local environment and acknowledge the importance of maintaining a healthy world beyond our boundary.
Falls Creek recently became a signatory to the Keep Winter Cool Charter which represents our commitment to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Falls Creek Resort Management (FCRM) became the world’s first alpine-based organisation to be benchmarked by Green Globe - the international certification program for ecologically and socially sustainable tourism – in March 2005.
The Green Globe application process highlighted FCRM is not only meeting minimum requirements in relation to environmental performance but also often performing at or above best practice.
The Green Globe accreditation process saw FCRM’s energy and water consumption, waste production and disposal assessed, and the resort’s social policies and local employment initiatives reviewed. In three of the seven criteria benchmarked by Green Globe, Falls Creek was found to be operating at or above best practice while in a further three categories, the resort’s performance was above Green Globe’s baseline standards.

Falls Creek Ski Lifts Environmental Initiatives

Falls Creek Ski Lifts Pty Ltd own and operate Falls Creek's ski lift network, snowsports school, snowmaking and grooming operations, many of the rental and retail outlets across Falls Creek, a reservation centre and other resort operations.
The company acknowledges that our greatest asset is our unique alpine environment and make great efforts to support our environment both locally and globally.

- The Falls Creek Res Centre Brochure was printed on 100% recycled and 100% recyclable stock.
- The Falls Creek Trail Map is printed on 100% recycled and 100% recyclable stock.
- Falls Creek's main chairlifts are powered by electricity produced from renewable sources.
- Falls Creek rewards staff who come up with better environmental options that are implemented.
- Running an online 'Environmental Values' survey to better understand and meet guests expectations.
