Things just got serious. You can now ride some of the newest mountain bike trails in the country at Falls Creek Mountain Bike Park .
In 2013/14 we opened the first 4 trails at Falls Creek - the stepping stones to something huge. in 2016 we're opening the last bactch of trails to make over 40km total. All trails are Cross Country with the odd All Mountain exception and the majority of the trails sit comfortably around the green and blue difficulty.
Technical climbs and gnarly descents all accessible from within the village - It's a pretty exciting setup for true Alpine Resort mountain biking!
It's fair to say the landscape at Falls Creek is pretty special. Inspirational is a word that often comes to mind. Whether venturing out to the depths of the Alpine National Park or exploring closer to the Resort, the beauty of the High Plains makes any ride memorable.
Falls Creek is well-equipped with a well established network of Roman-style aqueducts & dirt fire trails that take you to most coreners of the Alpine national Park. Visit the local peaks, historic cattleman's huts and alpine meadows of the Bogong High Plains - at Falls there is plenty to explore.
Some riders like the long haul, and we respect that. There are a number of trails heading out of Falls Creek to take riders to Mt Beauty, or most of the way to Omeo. These rides can be tough, through severe terrain and take in massive climbs. For those who love the challenge the reward is worth the effort.
For a fire track run with long descents, Timms Spur offers a tough climb over Mt Spion Kopje but a free flowing ride once past. McKay Creek offers an easier route to Mt Beauty with a mostly flat and downhill approach. Then there is Fainter Track, a challenging ride through bush-bashing terrain but with views that are simply incredible. Finish off each of each of these three with a stop at the Big Hill bike park leading into Mt Beauty.
Blue Dirt Mountain Biking are back at Falls Creek in 2016/17 with their most extensive shuttle schedule yet. Blue Dirt will be on-board from the Village Bike Cafe most weekends from the season opening on November 19th. Shuttles cost $50 per day or $90 for a weekend and can be booked online.
