Getting to Falls Creek

Located in North-East Victoria, Falls Creek is less than 2 hours drive from Albury-Wodonga, 4.5 hours from Melbourne, or an easy day’s drive from Sydney. There are a range of transport options available, including self-driving, coach buses, public transport, private transfers, and air travel. Travel times can vary depending on the time of year.

Self-Drive

Falls Creek is the closest alpine resort to Albury, an easy day’s drive from Sydney & four and a half hour drive from Melbourne. You can reach Falls Creek in a comfortable day of driving from most locations in Victoria and New South Wales.

In winter you will need to carry snow chains at all times and buy a Resort Entry permit before entering the resort at Howman’s Gap. During summer there is no charge for vehicle entry to the resort.

All drivers who enter Falls Creek Resort are required to carry chains at all times and fit them when directed. Penalties apply for not carrying chains or for carrying chains that don’t fit.

The only chains allowed for use in Falls Creek are Diamond Chains, as shown in the images below.

Coach Service, Private Transfers & Car Rental

Public Transport

Public rail transport can be a convenient and cost-effective way of traveling most of the way to the snow. Various options are available to get visitors most of the way to Falls Creek via the Victorian and New South Wales regional rail services.

From Albury or Wangaratta you can connect with a scheduled Coach Service, book a Private Transfer or hire a rental car.

Air Travel

From most Australian capitals, daily services fly into Albury via REX and QantasLink. The remaining travel time to Falls Creek is around 1hr 45mins by road on a connecting Coach Service, in a hire car, or via Private Transfer.

Pre-order it and it will be packed and ready for you as you swing by on your way up to the mountains. Brown Brothers Winery

What road trip along the Snow Road is complete without a visit to the top King Valley winery, Brown Brothers? Stop in and stock up on some of their award-winning reds, or prosecco to enjoy after a day smashing it out on the slopes. And if you're particularly clever, you could grab some of their pasta sauce and locally hand-made pasta for your dinner. A jar of tasty jam and you're set for breakfast too. You clever traveller, you've got this holiday sorted! The Brown Brothers Restaurant is also open Friday to Monday 9am to 4pm, for those looking for a tasty meal while on the road.
