Season 2015 has opened with a bang at Falls Creek.
Enjoying the best Queen's Birthday Weekend snow conditions seen in years, hordes of visitors flocked to Victoria's largest alpine resort to join in the celebrations, and share some turns on the slopes. Falls Creek boasted an impressive 4 runs fully open, including the popular Wombats Ramble (Australia's longest green run) and blue cruisers Main Street and Highway 83. Skiing and Snowboarding was the star of the show out in the skifields whilst visitors in the village celebrated in style with live music, beer and wine tasting, kids performances, bbq and more provided in the bustling Slalom Plaza.
The season was officially declared open via a joint ribbon-cutting ceremony by Falls Creek Resort Management Board Chair, Mark Anderson, CEO,Stuart Smythe, Falls Creek Ski Lifts General Manager, Francis Jackson and members of the Australian National Cross Country Team. A Welcome to Country Ceremony accompanied the official proceedings before a grand finale to a big day of celebration with a spectacular fireworks display in the Village Bowl.
With the Queen's Birthday Weekend now past visitors can now enjoy some early season runs on Falls Creek's blue and green terrain whilst we look to the skies for the next big dump to kcick the season into the next gear.
