Falls Creek kicks off winter with a PLUNGE!
With the snow season nipping at the heels of Falls Creek, locals and visitors welcomed the cold in the most Falls Creek way possible - with a mass dip in the freezing Rocky Valley Lake. Over 60 participants braved the zero degree temperatures on shore to dive in to the (actually warmer) water which registered a temperature of just 4 degrees.
The Ice Plunge is in its 9th year as an annual tradition, playfully made to encourage the snow gods to deliver the goods come opening of the ski season. It looks as if things may have worked this year with encouraging signs of snow on the forecast.
The 2016 plunge raised welcome funds to the local SES and their service to the local community.
