The Alpine National Park is a spectacular setting for a cross-country hike. This self-guided tour offers an incredible way to experience it with a day-long trek between Mt Hotham and Falls Creek Alpine resorts.
Highlights include passing spectacular features such as the Razorback Ridge, Mt Feathertop and the basalt column structures that give Ruined Castle its name. The Tawonga and other historic huts and mines along the way give a glimpse into the history of the High Country and any number of wildlife can be encountered - from pygmy possums to wild brumbies and emus.
To reach the trailhead at Mt Hotham, Falls Creek offer a one-way shuttle service every Saturday in January plus Christmas and Easter. This Summer Falls Bus is offering return transfers to Falls Creek from Vline connections in Wangaratta and Bright. Transfers factor in a dropoff at Falls Creek on Friday afternoon and pickup from Hotham on Monday afternoon. Find out more >
