National Team Update - Monday September 14
|
Right now the National Team is in the middle of two week training block at Falls Creek. The focus of this camp is on the Olympic Squad and the athletes aiming to make it to Vancouver 2010, although a couple of extra senior team members have also been along for some of the training sessions.
We've had some great ski touring conditions so far, with the snow setting up and making for great skating across the High Plains, and also some good intensity and technical sessions on the tracks groomed around the Nordic Bowl. The groomers have been helping us simulate various sprint tracks from around the world with extra classic tracks and links. The warm weather is helping the snow disappear but there's still plenty around the bowl and we're still hoping to be skiing to the end of the month on the McKay loop.

National Team Training Centre
|
The Cross Country Skiing National Team Training Centre at Falls Creek was launched in 2004, recognising Falls Creek's commitment to cross country skiing and the world class cross country ski training opportunities available. Falls Creek and the National Team are working together to further develop these facilities and to promote cross country skiing in Australia.
During the Australian winter the National Team Coach is based at Falls Creek, working predominantly with National Team members daily and on training camps and also assisting with coaching Victorian Junior Squad and some of the locally based club and school teams. News from the team competing overseas last summer can be viewed on the Australian Cross Country Skiing website.

Have a Winter Olympian Visit Your School
|
In 2009 schools in North East Victoria have the opportunity to have 2006 Winter Olympian Paul Murray visit their school and talk about cross country skiing. The 45 minute presentation includes DVD footage and images of the Australian Team in action overseas in World Cup and at the Olympics, and also features a lot of non-racing cross country skiing action. Interested schools should contact National Team Coach Finn Marsland on 0408 147 940.
