Between the end of November and mid-March there's an opportunity to win a trip to the 2009 Tour de France. By participating in the Alpine Ascent Challenge one lucky rider will be amongst the cycling legend Phil Anderson's guide tour which follows the iconic Tour de France.
Just imagine how good it would be following the elite riders participating in the annual Tour De France, arguably the most well known (and most demanding) cycling event on the planet. Phil Anderson is a 'household name' in European cycling so wherever you'd go with Phil you would be given a very special welcome.
This opportunity has been created by the operators of Victoria’s seven high country resorts and the challenge is to ride to the summit of at least four of seven Victorian alpine resorts including Falls Creek (which is awash with cyclists participating in the annual Audax event on the Australia Day weekend) Alpine Resort and have your passport stamped.
To be eligible for entry (and a chance to win an encounter with the world's cyclists) you must have your passport stamped by at least four of the seven validation points:
- Gateway Café (Bogong High Plains Road), or
- Resort Management Reception (corner Bogong High Plains Rd and Slalom St).
You can pick up a passport and brochure at participating bike shops, visitor information centres, and participating resorts or by filling in your details online.
The promotion is valid from 30th November 2008 until 24th March, 2009. All entries must be received at the offices of North East Victoria Tourism Inc, 64 Ovens St, Wangaratta VIC 3767.
