With a young new chef at the helm, Attunga – Window to the alps, is set to be Falls Creeks best kept secret. To join the modern menu, the spirited staff and the stimulating atmosphere finish off the perfect combination for a night full of good times and great food.
Begin the evening with a relaxing drink or two in the bar as you unwind surrounded by some of the best views on the mountain. With a kids menu also on offer, Attunga – Window to the alps, is an experience for the whole family.
Jeanti Pizza e Cucina, will be a new restaurant on the iconic Snowlands site, with Lou Maio (who won the Victorian and was runner-up in the Australian pizza making contest last year) at the helm. They will also offer good coffee (Segafredo), cakes , pastas, pizza (also home delivered) and family-friendly meals from 5pm.
A new restaurant at Julians Lodge will compliment the resort's expanding offerings. One part will be a Tapas-style café / bar the other a new 65-seat restaurant with 26 year old chef Kirby Shearing overseeing what goes out of his kitchen) which will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Rhett Willis who has just put in a solid year at Icebergs, a very high profile, iconic, fine dining Sydney restaurant (to learn more about Italian-style cuisine) has teamed up with Heath Weber to run the kitchen at Astra this winter.
Alpine Style's Best Bar award went to Astra's potent Vodka Bar which recognised the input by the Grochowski family to the resort's renowned
apres ski options.
New operators of Silver Ski's Oishi Go and The Produce Store at Huski are
St Kilda-based Mikoshi.
Award-winning Summit Ridge will once again be amongst the sought-after places to dine at Falls Creek. Summit Ridge Alpine Lodge proprietors, Wendy and Simon Rawlings, have positioned their restaurant as the number one dining establishment in our snowfields. With three wins in three years, Summit Ridge restaurant at Falls Creek in the inaugural entrant to Alpine Style's Hall of Fame.
The menu, compiled with input from former Head Chef, Robert Cunningham, features an abundance of local produce from North-East of Victoria. Ramelton Farm Eggs are used at Summit Ridge. The farm, located at Wangaratta, is free range and organic. Olive oil is sourced from the Kiewa Estate Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Group, which produces olive oil on the banks of the Kiewa River using organic farm techniques.
Cunningham who is originally from Milawa worked for Bill Marchetti for three years in Melbourne before his stint at Summit Ridge. He and his partner now operate a catering business located near Noosa and he's juggling his schedule to include winter in Japan.
Mo's Restaurant and Bar at Feathertop Lodge, has the ultimate apres-ski indulgence: oysters, bubbles and beer. Starting at 5pm, it is possible to
stop in for some aphrodisiac oysters and a glass of fizz, just after the lifts have closed. Oysters are sourced from South Australia and 50 dozen are consumed per week often with a glass (or two) of Beck's beer.
SNOW TAXIS - Falls Creek is the only ski resort in Australia that offers a snow taxi service. The resort's Oversnow Service, which is used to transport holiday-makers from the carpark to their accommodation, is used as a taxi service in the evenings.
For $7 per person, it is possible to telephone and be picked up from outside your accommodation and be transported to a bar for a pre-dinner drink or to the restaurant of your choice. It is also useful for getting home, after a meal or when it is time to call it a night for your apres-ski activities.
