VIS Athletes at Falls - Falls Creek

(Updated Wednesday 5 November 2008)

The Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) is planning on bringing two groups of athletes to Falls Creek Alpine Resort for altitude training. Jonathan Hall, Head Coach of Triathlon at the Victorian Institute of Sport, is bringing the ‘cream of the crop’ to participate in altitude training at the athlete-friendly resort.

Hall said: "It is a phenomenal place for running and cycling. It is a great place to test our athletes and ensure we are on the right track”.

"The proximity to Melbourne is also a factor and we will use the mile-high lake for open water training, recovery swims and kayaking.

"I'm sure once the word gets out we are attending the National Altitude Training Centre other age-group athletes will be drawn to Falls Creek”.

“Amongst my two groups of athletes that will be based at Falls Creek from Boxing Day (for up to 18 nights) will be a junior group of triathletes and a group of elite athletes”.

“Two Olympians Lisa Corrigan the Australian record holder over a mile, who is coached by Dr Dick Telford, and triathlete Olympic team member Erin Densham.

“They will carry out a full block of altitude training starting on Boxing Day”.
