Telemark Festival - Falls Creek

Check out our 'Post Event' Report & Pics

Falls Creek Freeheel Festival

August 2nd and 3rd will bring the annual Falls Freeheel Festival to Falls Creek ski resort. This is a chance to get rid of those “training heels” and try something a little bit more challenging and ultimately rewarding. Telemark skiing brings style, finesse and flair to skiing. New gear and specific skis have given power to a sport which has the grace of tradition and grass roots, with the technology of modern skiing equipment. With both the elegance of tradition and excitement of progression, freeheel skiing is the “oldest new sport”. So get here for a great weekend in August and come to Falls Creek, check out a new sport and join the tele tribe!

Saturday

On Saturday fitness freaks will get together for the uphill/downhill race. Competitors will start at the bottom of the Summit and head up Broadway home trail, across the Desert to Skyline and then back down the village through gates to the finish line. Last year competitors were completing the course in unimaginable times! Race starts at 11am sharp.

Saturday Night

Saturday night, drinks and flicks will be on in the room at the Man Hotel. Drinks are at 6pm and heaps of door prizes will be given away.

Sunday

Sunday at 11am the G.S. difference race will be held on Ruined Castle. The winner will be the person with the least difference in time between their two runs. There will also be prizes for fastest male and female. The G.S. Race is a fun event and a good chance to get through some gates even if you haven’t tried them before.

Prices

Race entry to two races (with valid lift pass) $35.00
2 Day lift pass & 2 Race entries $183.00

Free Demo Gear

Demo tents supplied by Ski Man Bob of Hawthorn and Snowgums Wodonga will have the latest skis and boots to try out for free and awesome technical advice, so if you don’t have any tele gear, but want to give it a try, then these guys will help you out.

Learn From the Pro’s

APSI instructors will be available on Saturday and Sunday to at 1.30pm for lessons at $35 dollars per person and Steve “Crazy” Leeder will be heading down from Perisher Blue to run freeheel camps in the terrain park.

So if you are up for something new, stylish, progressive and fun, give the Falls freeheel festival a run!
