Falls Creek Resort Management Finalist in Premier's Sustainability Awards.

Falls Creek Resort Management (FCRM) was selected last week as a finalist in prestigious Premier’s Sustainability Awards 2012.

These prestigious awards recognise sustainability initiatives by individuals and organisations across Victoria, and acknowledge leadership, innovation and achievement in the business, government, community, tertiary education and built environment fields.

FCRM in partnership with the Resort Management Boards from Mt Buller and Mt Hotham, the Alpine Shire Council, the North East Regional Waste Management Group and 4Site Australia P/L have been nominated as finalists for The Living Bin program. The Living Bin as seen the development and placement of infrastructure to divert the organic waste stream from landfill. The program diverted over 70,000kg of organic waste from landfill last year which is equivalent to over 1,000,000 black balloons.

FCRM Natural Resource Manager, Ben Derrick, said “This is great recognition for a public and private sector project that brings together the efforts for hundreds of people from across the alpine industry. It is a simple program that has, and will continue to have, significant environmental benefits for everyone”.

Category winners will be announced on Tuesday 2 October at Peninsula, Docklands.

The awards are managed by Sustainability Victoria and are now in their 10th year.
