The Float Room

The Float Room - Falls Creek

The Float Room:

Summit Ridge has acquired a float tank used by the Australian Institute of Sport's Olympic training program. During the past 20 years the remarkable effects of the float tank have been systematically studied and applied in such areas as sports recovery, relaxation, sports science and medicine.

The modern float tank is equipped with powerful underwater speakers and an in-tank DVD/CD facility. The average snow sport enthusiast can now reinvigorate themselves and gain recovery benefits from spending time in the warm shallow 30cm pool of 25% saturated Epsom Salts solution five times denser and more buoyant than sea water.

The immense benefits from floating include improved circulation and regeneration of muscle tissue. Strenuous physical snow sport activity can cause a build-up of lactic acid in the muscles and this is experienced as pain, fatigue and cramp that can last for days. Floating is a proven method of reducing the effects of lactic acid and removing other waste materials from the body. Most snow sport injuries are not contact injuries but are the result of inappropriate muscle tension on unused muscle groups. Floating has been proven to loosen and regenerate the muscles to ensure the average snow sport enthusiast gains relief as well as providing a deep sensory relaxation experience.
