Falls Creek has responded to an abrupt (very timely one week before the opening of its winter season) change in the weather by firing up some of its snow-producers.
|
In fact at 8.30am this morning the mercury was well below zero and the temperature, taking into account the wind chill component, was a cool minus 7.6C.
Geoff Sorensen, the alpine resort's Slope Maintenance Manager said: "The cooler conditions are an ideal opportunity for the snowmaking team to test our high tech, energy efficient, snowproducers.
"Early this morning every snowproducer on the 2.2km Wombat's Ramble was operational and we also fired-up the energy efficient snowproducers which focus on our beginner area.
"There could be another snowproducing window tonight and from Monday we have a full compliment of snowmakers onboard for the winter season which officially begins on the Queen's Birthday holiday weekend."
