Gearing up for the Sled Dog Classic

Preparations are in full swing for one of Falls Creek's most anticipated Winter events!

Last year's inaugural Royal Canin Falls Creek Sled Dog Classic was a huge success. So much so that the August 4th return is arguably the most eagerly anticipated event on the Falls Creek Winter calendar.

The event operates on a simple premise - bring sled dog teams to the snow and race them through the village at night! This is an event unlike anything else seen in Australia, and only possible in the unique ski-in ski-out environment of Falls Creek's village.

The time trial races will be showcasing Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes and Alaskan Huskies amongst others. Racing in teams of up to 6 dogs, this is a great spectator sport to watch the teams race through the course. An evening timeslot and through-village course also means that the event is ideal for guests to enjoy with dinner or drinks from one of Falls Creek's many quality establishments along the route.

Event sponsor - Royal Canin, is back on board in 2012 for what they expect to be a typically exciting event.

Royal Canin's marketing manager, Stuart Diamond, said: "We are really excited about this year's event and are looking forward to some great races."

With fresh snow forecast throughout the coming week, conditions on the village roads should be ideal!.

Races commence at 6:30pm on Saturday August 4th. Accommodation options are available on-mountain but guests are advised to contact reservations soon to ensure they don't miss out. To book please call 1800 2 FALLS.
