Whilst the scorching, record-breaking hot weather is having quite an impact on the lives of residents in many SE Australia communities the alpine resorts such as Falls Creek are enjoying balmy 15C days.
|
Mother Nature's air conditioner is just one of the reasons visitors head to the hills in the summer months. Local folklore states it is one degree per 100 metres cooler between Mt Beauty (at 400 metres above sea level) and Falls Creek Alpine Resort.
Whilst Adelaide, Melbourne and Albury (a two hour drive from Falls Creek) are experiencing record-breaking hot weather, it was about 15C at Victoria's largest alpine resort this morning.
Some of our elite athletes are relishing the cooler conditions as they participate in altitude training preparing for next year's Commonwealth Games.
Visitors to the resort are also making the most of the ideal temperatures for walking amongst the pristine alpine environment.
