Sixty Mt Bike enthusiasts, including a team from Snowmass Colorado and a former elite rider from England, will participate in an exhausting seven days in the saddle of their Mt Bikes.

Finish Line Events Director Iain Moore said: "The winners will be the riders with the physical fitness and mental resolve (and Mt Bike prowess) to keep going over the entire seven days.
“It is the style of event which will test participants, particularly on day four or five, who can push through the pain barrier and negotiate terrain which is not easy to ride on.”
We were looking for a suitable location for a mountain-based event and Falls Creek was the logical place to start because of its location.
"We have modelled the inaugural seven day Terra Australis, which has taken
about a year to plan (including hitting the drawing board again to reroute stage five around Beechworth owing to the recent bushfires), on the very
challenging Canadian and European Mt bike events.
Mt Bikers such as an Australian Olympic representative Dan McConnell and Current World Champion in the 24hour endurance-style event (in his age group) Troy Bailey, are two riders expected to produce a podium finish.
Jaclyn and George Derosien, the team from Colorado, are competing in the Super Masters category of the event and Matt Hart (from the UK) will team up with James Meabus from Nunawading in Victoria, in the Open category.
The inaugural seven day Terra Australis endurance event starts from Falls Creek on Sunday morning at 8am with a relatively easy first day.

Events Director Moore said:” The ride from Falls Creek to Mt Beauty will be along a course we've set which goes under Mt McKay, out to the Big River Fire Trail, Mt Nelse, Tim's Spur, Bogong Village, then a climb up Spring Saddle and a final leg down Big Hill into Mt Beauty.
"The following day it could take between five to eight hours for the Mt bikers to complete the Terra Australis course between Falls Creek and Dinner Plain.
"Participants will navigate between the two popular alpine resorts on a course which uses the undulating terrain across the picturesque Bogong High Plains.
"Day four is the toughest of the event. The 116km course from Bright back to Bright takes in some infrequently used tracks (and steep climbs) around Mt Buffalo and we expect it will trouble some of the riders."

"After consultation with numerous land owners, Parks Victoria, DSE we have designed an epic course which will test even the most Mt Bikers such as our Olympic representative Dan McConnell and Current World Champion in the 24 hour endurance-style event (in his age group) Troy Bailey.
"A team from Colorado and numerous entries from throughout Australia intend to take on the challenge of completing a mammoth 553kms which includes the mountainous terrain around Falls Creek, Mt McKay, Dinner Plain, Bogong Village, Bright and Beechworth.
