Falls Creek Alpine Resort plans to open a number of its ski lifts, including the very popular Falls Express, Towers and Drovers chairlifts this Friday.

It is a winter wonderland. The entire resort is well covered with snow after an overnight dump of 24cm creating a healthy 44cm snowbase.
From Friday the alpine resort is expected to open six ski lifts to entice early skiers and boarders to visit Falls Creek and take advantage of this current dry snow which has blanketed the entire resort.
"We’ll have intermediate and beginner runs open this weekend. This is an amazing start to the season with nearly half a metre of snow on the ground" says Michael Callahan GM Falls Creek Ski Lifts.
"We’ve got ski in ski out conditions early June".
Lift tickets for each day are only $39 adults and $19 children. Both alpine and cross country enthusiasts will be catered for with the resort's groomer operators preparing terrain for both disciplines and snowmakers adding to the base with chilly minus 6C temperatures.
It promises to be a dream start to the 2009 winter, way beyond expectations of the snow-related businesses at Victoria' largest alpine resort.
Forward bookings for the popular school holidays and into August are strong. With this early snow dump (and the decision to open six lifts) the alpine resort's booking centres anticipate an avalanche of calls.
"When the snowfalls, everyone's excited. We've worked hard all summer preparing for this," said Callahan.
"This snowfall is very timely with school holidays fast approaching, we're pleased to be able to operate lifts early in the season.
"Skiers and boarders are passionate about the sport and love to hear lifts are being opened as it means they can get up and get out there." Callahan said.
"The groomers are out there packing the snow and preparing the slopes for some fun riding from this Friday and we're all keen to put on the boards and go for a blast" says Callahan.
"There's nothing like fresh snow and alpine air to make you feel alive".
"It's a great opportunity to come and have fun in the snow. Guests can learn to ski or board for only $49 ($29 child) for a lift/lesson ticket and you only need a couple of lifts in the early stages of learning to ski and board.
"This is a chance to see what it’s all about for a fraction of the cost."
