First big cold front of season - Official Home of Falls Creek Alpine Resort

(Updated Monday 3rd May 2010)

The warm, summery, weather has hibernated - as it should in autumn.

There's a distinctive nip in the air and the prospect of snow has emerged in tandem with a forecasted first big cold front of the season.

Victoria and Tasmania will be reminded that it's not long until the opening of the ski season on the Queen's Birthday weekend.

There's only 40 days to go until the official opening date of another winter season at one of Victoria's most popular, family-friendly, alpine resorts, Falls Creek.

A dramatic change in the weather (not unusual in early May) will boost sales of snow apparel and equipment in the ski shops throughout the
south east Australia and families are getting serious about securing their accommodation in the snow.

By tomorrow we will know the impact of the cold front and more importantly it is now about six weeks until the ski lifts start spinning once again.
