Falls Creek gains more accolades - Falls Creek

(Updated Tuesday 19th September 2009)

In the reputable Ski industry's Skiwatch annual Awards Falls Creek has again been awarded the mantle for Best alpine dining for the fourth straight year.

Skiwatch, a 6-days-a-week snow industry column, appears on the weather page of the The Daily Telegraph newspaper plus online site at www.dailytelegraph.com.au.

Its editor Arthur Stanley said: "We could make a case for giving this award to four resorts this season but, in the end, Falls Creek was handed the title for the fourth straight year.

"The top end of alpine dining in Australia now puts many city eateries to shame. Three of this year¹s top-rated restaurants are new for 2009 and, while rating the dining establishments wasn¹t easy, our judges felt Falls Creek offered "consistently good food in a beautiful location, no matter what your budget or mood¹¹.

Summit Ridge was presented with the 'Alpine Restaurant of the Year' award. This is the 5th year they have received this award also winning in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Falls Creek also gained an accolade for the Development of the year: Falls Creek (St Falls). Falls Creek¹s $65 million four seasons gateway project has given the resort a real sense of arrival. The opening this season of the 5-star Quay West Resort & Spa, plus retail outlets and eateries, added significantly to Falls Creek¹s all-round appeal.

For innovative the Super Pass was awarded a gong with the statement 'The opportunity to ski or board at three resorts on one early-bird season pass was a progressive and popular step taken by the ski areas now under the one umbrella (Falls Creek, Hotham and Perisher).

Amongst a swag of awards given to numerous Falls Creek businesses the twice-weekly Snow Kat Dinners to Dicky Knees (and the snowproducing engine room) was Highly commended.

About 280 participants including mountain staff took advantage of the latest guest-friendly activity (Snow Kat Dinners) which proved to be very popular throughout the winter season.
