Fainter Falls Trail Open - Falls Creek

(Updated Sunday 4 January 2009)

The walk is an additional recreation opportunity for visitors to the high country and the Alpine National Park located just off the Bogong High Plains touring route between Mt Beauty and Falls Creek, visitors that have already been on the track have been most impressed.

“It has been a pleasure to be part of the partnership between Parks Victoria, the Alpine Shire, Regional Development Victoria, and the real drivers of the project - the Fainter Falls Steering Committee,” said Ross Grant Ranger in Charge Bogong Management Unit Alpine National Park.

Grant said: “For those that have not yet had the opportunity to visit the walk, the start is located approx. 2kms south of Bogong Village (near the 'orange bridge).

“It is 700 metre (one way) walk on a class 2 track (easy) and suitable for most abilities. It contours above the course of the Pretty Valley branch of the East Kiewa River with two lookouts along the route. The lookouts have great views of the river and Fainter Falls.

“For the more adventurous, a further 200 metres of steep, stepped track takes you to the base of the falls.”
