Stroll through the pedestrian-friendly alpine resort (or jump into a free shuttle) to taste sought-after boutique winery red and white wines tonight.

Of the smaller vignerons represented at this year's 'Taste of Falls Creek' is Murchison Wines, Tawonga Estate, Rutherglen Estate and Eaglerange Estate.
These boutique-sized vineyards produce award-winning wine and are often not seen in large bottle shops in the big smoke. This is an annual opportunity to discover what the smaller wineries are producing.
There's about ten different wineries offering tastings (accompanied by cheese or other appropriate nibbles) on Saturday and two winemaker's dinners.
Alta Restaurant (within Quay West Resort & Spa) featured King Valley-based Chrismont Wines at its winemaker's dinner.
Arnie Pizzini, the owner of Chrismont Wines, will be attending and he assures participants he'll provide an insight into how his King Valley winery produces award-winning, Italian-style red and white wines
Falls Creek-based foodie Kate Duggan is coordinating tonight's winemaker's dinners at the Produce Store. The not-to-be-missed, three-course dinner will begin with a starter accompanied by Anderson's 2000 Method Champenoise.

This weekend's 'Taste of Falls Creek' will coincide with a welcome change in the weather. Cooler days (and nights) will be ideal for wine buffs who relish the opportunity to seek out new, cool climate wines.
|
Award-winning Annapurna Estate, nestled in the foothills of the high country, is just one of the smaller vignerons who will be represented at the alpine resort's 'Taste of Falls Creek'.
This boutique-sized vineyard is now producing award-winning sparkling wine (its Blanc de Noir recently won gold at the Victorian Wineries show held at Melbourne's Federation Square).
Another vigneron with a big reputation for producing Methode Champenoise wines using the traditional champagne technique is Rutherglen-based Anderson Wines.
Its grapes are hand harvested and all of its current release of sparklings have been aged on yeast for at least 5 years.
Anderson will join a Falls Creek-based foodie Kate Duggan who is coordinating one of two winemaker's dinners (at the Produce Store on Saturday night). The not-to-be-missed, three-course dinner will begin with a starter accompanied by Anderson's 2000 Method Champenoise.

The other winemaker's dinner (at Alta Restaurant within Quay West Resort &
Spa) will feature King Valley-based Chrismont Wines.
The Alta's Executive Chef Jamie Webb has been cooking up a storm and he's offering a four-course tasting menu on Friday night with matching wines from a renowned King Valley winery.
For the main course Webb has selected Grain fed beef fillet, rosemary potatoes & mustard crème fraiche served with Chrismont La Zona Barbera 2008.
Arnie Pizzini, the owner of Chrismont Wines, will be attending the event and will provide a rewarding insight into how his winery produces award-winning, Italian-style red and white wines To secure a spot at the Chrismont Winemaker's Dinner call 03 5732 8000
