By Road

Pack the family and hit the road to Falls Creek Alpine Resort.

Travelling by road is a great way to get to Falls Creek and take in the natural beauty of the North East Victorian countryside.

Falls Creek is the closest alpine resort to Albury, an easy day’s drive from Sydney & four and a half hours drive from Melbourne. You can reach Falls Creek in a comfortable day of driving from most locations in Victoria and New South Wales, plus a dedicated bus service takes out the work for you.

From Sydney or Melbourne the best way is to travel along the Hume Highway and take the turnoffs at either Wangaratta (from Melbourne) or Albury (from Sydney). For those in the sunshine state, Falls Creek is not as far as you think - it can be comfortably driven over two days along the Newell Highway with a stop-over on the way.

You can arrive via Mt Beauty or take the slightly longer route via Mt Hotham and Omeo along the Bogong Alpine way which is open between Angler's Rest and Falls Creek outside of the snow season.

Falls Creek also has a dedicated bus service to get guests to the resort, plus hire car options will get you there from nearby hubs.

Fuel:

There is no fuel available at Falls Creek so it is a good idea to fill up in Mt Beauty or Omeo before driving the last leg to the resort. For those arriving at Mt Beauty between 7am and 7pm, the Caltex service station on the Kiewa Valley highway in Tawonga Sth (Next to Falls Creek Coaches) has 24hr fuel facilities via credit card.

Driving with Kids:

If you are driving up from Melbourne to Falls Creek with kids, why not check out our specially created Hume Highway Quiz and Hume Highway Bingo to help entertain the kids on the drive.

Simply open the links below, print, and bring with you, along with spare paper and pencils when you leave for Falls Creek. The quiz starts when you get onto the Hume Highway.
