In 2009 history was created with the conclusion of sealing and official opening of the Bogong High Plains Road between Falls Creek and the Omeo Highway.
This 36 kilometre stretch now completes one of the finest touring loops in the country. Starting at Falls Creek the 235km loop circumnavigates Victoria's breathtaking alpine region through the quaint historic villages of Anglers Rest, Dinner Plain, Omeo, Mt Beauty and Dinner Plain. The road also takes you through the alpine villages of Falls Creek and Mt Hotham.
This road is a dream come true for cyclists, motorcyclists and motorists alike, winding through the Alpine National Park. With unforgettable views of the valleys below, some of the highest mountains in Victoria, unique alpine flora and historic cattlemens huts, this drive is a must for any trip to the High Country.
