An additional 20cms of new snow - Official Home of Falls Creek Alpine Resort
| (Updated Friday 27th August 2010) | |
Falls Creek has had 20cm of accumulated snowfall in the last 24 hours.
| Overnight even more fresh snow has fallen taking the alpine resort's Natural Snow Depth even closer to the two metre mark. With sub-zero temperatures continuing to keep the snow in very good condition skiers and boarders are enjoying what can only be described as epic. Anyone who has the opportunity to head to an alpine resort such as Falls Creek today, or over the weekend, will be rewarded with a memorable day's snow riding. Whilst snowfall depth records have been smashed it is the quality of the snow which has got the snow enthusiasts overjoyed. Local skiing legend Steven Lee reckons he was skiing champagne powder yesterday. And if you're out early today you could also be laying down tracks similiar to what you would do in North America and Japan. 20cm of freshies isn't too be missed!! | |

Falls Creek's resort guests might have to skip dinner (or have an early or late meal) tonight because it will be a feast of activity in the Village Bowl from about 7pm.
| The annual Hoppet Night sprints (under lights) are expected to provide non-stop action on a spectator-friendly course which winds around the Village Bowl. Invited overseas and Australian cross-country skiers take part in a knock out series of sprint races on a course which will be about 400 metres in length. At 8pm the first Free Night Spectacular on the Summit is scheduled to take place. This is also a crowd-pleaser with a smorgasbord of 'acts' performed by talented members of the alpine resort community. A new inclusion is Skiddles the Clown who joins the Falls Creek Snowsports demo team, Pete the Snow Dragon, the magnificent operators in their snow cats, flare run participants and more. Its the best entertainment for the entire family (apart from the Night sprints) in the heart of the alpine resort. And its Free!!! | |

Mother nature has delivered a phenomenal last week of winter
| Falls Creek has had 226 cm of accumulated snowfall so far this month and a record-breaking single snowfall in August. The mercury plummeted overnight at Victoria's largest alpine resort down to minus 7C and the 54cm of fresh snow, which fell in the last 24 hours, has broken August records kept since 1992. The resort's Natural Snow Depth is now a whopping 177cm. This is now the deepest snow cover of any Victorian alpine resort and powderhounds are going to be relishing the most amazing late winter snow conditions in nearly two decades. September is going to be sensational! There'll be significant snow cover on all the resort's lift -served terrain. | |
